Thanks to DJ Bartok, who posted these on the PigWarriors yahoo group. (qouted without permission) Here are some added rules I came up with for the Japanese in Pig Wars: Samurai count as full armor Samurai with bow can fire twice if they do not move and use the crossbow range. This is for foot or mounted. Mounted Samurai with spear count 2 as their fighting factor instead of 5 on a charge. Mounted Samurai with sword cannot use it as a two-handed weapon. Samurai do not need to check morale for the first time until 2/5 of the unit are dead instead of the normal 1/5. After this initial check the unit checks after every 1/5 of the unit is killed as normal. Ashigaru count as partial armor. Ashigaru with arquebus fire at bow range and cannot move and fire. It takes one turn to reload. Blowgun/Throwing Star/Throwing Knife, etc. fire at the Javelin range. Fight as improvised weapon unless armed with another weapon. Ninja sword is a one handed weapon even if the figure is holding it with two hands. Ninja can move through any terrain with no movement penalty except for Rivers and Streams. They move through Rivers and Streams as the rules state in Pig War rulebook. Ninja can be set up hidden at the beginning of the game. Ninja can have poison missle weapons which gives a -1 on the block card. Example: if you need a 8-A to block a missle normally, a poison missle means you need a 9-A to block. All non-Samurai bows are considered normal bows. Falcons- If a commander figure has a falcon on his arm or horse or whatever you can send the falcon out to do a attack once in the game. This counts as a Javelin shot and takes place in the missle phase. Ninja are +1 fighting a enemy figure to the side or rear. Two-Handed war clubs and hammers are considered the same as a two-handed edged weapon on the factor chart. Morale Grades: Samurai 3 Ronin 2 Ashigaru 2 or 1 a mix in the unit Peasant 0 or 1 a mix in the unit, mostly 0 Ninja 3 or 2 a mix in the unit, mostly 2 The rules seemed to work just fine and brought out some excitment at the game.
